The supply chain director manages all aspects of demand planning, sourcing, and freight and logistics, as well as designs and executes strategies and plans to meet company's short-term and long-term supply chain requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the demand planning process in close relation with the Sales department. Based on the demand plan develop a supply plan forecast within a 3 month time window.
  • Work with the plant management and other available resources to ensure adequate supply/inventory levels are available to meet customer requirements.
  • Evaluate past performance data to forecast needs and production scheduling.
  • Develop strategic plans to improve productivity, quality and efficiency of operations.
  • Manage the proper sourcing and procurement of materials, supplies and services for the facility.
  • Oversee the contract review process of current and new products.
  • Support Sales Department as needed with supply chain data analysis and reporting.
  • Follow up with customer service on the status of customer orders/outbound deliveries to ensure accurate and timely loading/departure of goods.
  • Provide for the training and career development of an effective work force; maintain established goals and objectives to drive efficiencies and control labor costs.
  • Seek out and implement best practices as appropriate.
  • Practice all safety and quality standards and practices.
  • Direct managerial oversight and talent development of the planning and sourcing teams, and logistics/customer service staff.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher; may substitute work experience for educational background
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in demand planning & supply planning, logistics and sourcing in a fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) business required.
  • Experience negotiating contracts, and creating and managing budgets is essential.
  • Experience buying and managing fluid milk and cream contracts desired
  • Strong, demonstrated leadership competencies that have driven results in the areas of cost, quality, service and safety.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills. 
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skills in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail. 
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work and influence others across multiple functions and disciplines. 
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and production environments and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

  • This position is based at the Company's headquarters in Brattleboro, Vermont. As the position also covers all Company locations, regular travel is required; amount of travel will be based on business need however is estimated to be 10-25% of time.



  • This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, the position may require overnight on-call duty and the ability to work during nonstandard hours when the need arises.
